Welcome to Brother Askari's Cultural/Historical website. This site is dedicated to the creativity, contributions, folklore, myths, legends, traditions, customs, language, and history of African Americans past and present. The pictures that appear on the site tell stories of the African American struggle for freedom and justice in America. The voices, which speak from the pictures, are poetic in their expressions of love, pain, joy, dreams, struggles, victories, defeats, and emotions of the African American spirit.
Having been born and raised in the segerated, deep south, I have chosen a mix of language styles that merges our past with our present. We must continue to tell our stories. We must continue to bring forth the pictures which tell their own stories. As a result, hopefully, we all will be elevated in our understanding of the African American struggle in America.
